Join us for weekly sanctuary stewardship days at Capital City Bird Sanctuary! Michigan Audubon's Conservation Program Coordinator, Linnea Rowse, will lead weekly volunteer days on Wednesday through October. We welcome all volunteers - help us to make a difference at this beautiful Lansing preserve!
Typical stewardship tasks focus on invasive species removal, maintaining native gardens for birds and pollinators, and trail maintenance. We will provide all tools, but feel free to bring your own leather gloves or pruners if you have them.
We always welcome new volunteers, and please know that we will not send you off on your own! Michigan Audubon staff will provide guidance and work alongside you. If you can work in your yard or garden, you are "qualified" enough to join us!
Please RVSP if you plan to attend a workday, by emailing Linnea at LRowse@michiganaudubon.org. In the event of a workday cancellation, Linnea will send a notification out to those who RSVP by 5 p.m. the day prior.
What to bring:
Please come prepared for outdoor work: wear long pants, long sleeves, close-toed shoes, and a hat. Wear clothing you are not concerned about getting dirty or snagged on raspberry bushes. Bring leather work gloves, water, snacks, insect repellent, and sunscreen, although we will have extras on hand.
